Mexican authorities discovered more than 100 migrants in dire condition in a tractor-trailer destined for Texas at a military checkpoint just 30 minutes north of Ciudad Victoria, which is the capital of Tamaulipas.

Mexico’s National Immigration Institute (INM) revealed that the discovery turned into a rescue operation once police learned of the health conditions of the migrants.

Immigration officials revealed that the migrants exhibited signs of acute dehydration and asphyxia leading authorities to race medical personnel to the scene to provide medical care, Breitbart Texas reported.

Among the victims suffering from the more severe symptoms were 39 underage teenagers and children, ten of whom were unaccompanied minors.

Mexican officials said the immigrants were from Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador. Authorities apprehended Mexican natives Ruben “N” and Orbelin “N” who have been singled out as the drivers and smugglers.

The suspects are alleged to have departed the southern state of Chiapas and were headed to the U.S-Mexico border. The migrants were brought to Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office in Ciudad Victoria so INM could contact their consulates and execute their deportations. The suspects were brought to the same building and face federal charges.
