On Tuesday, Border Patrol agents working at the Douglas Station in Tucson, Arizona apprehended a Salvadorian gang member with an extensive criminal history.

According to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection press release, Border agents assigned to patrol west of the city of Douglas arrested Mario Guardado-Urquillo, 42, outside of city limits just after he illegally crossed into the country.

While the man was being processed, agents learned of Guardado’s extensive criminal past, which included aggravated homicide and violent avoidance of authorities in El Salvador.

Further examination revealed that he was an 18th Street Gang member.

Multiple tattoos on Guardado’s body displayed common gang symbols.

Guardado will be processed for immigration violations and may face additional charges because of his prior criminal history.
