Mexican officials say authorities discovered the body of Mexican blogger and Youtube personality known as “La Nana Pelucas” after she received threats from a drug gang over her outspoken commentary on local issues affecting the resort city of Acapulco, in the state of Guerrero

Ann Pamela Montenegro, who goes by the Youtube persona “La Nana Pelucas,” was having dinner with her husband Monday in a restaurant in Acapulco owned by her spouse, when two armed men entered the establishment, ordered two beers and then shot the comedian of political satire three times in the head., according to local reports.

Prosecutor Xavier Olea indicated investigators identified the Independent Cartel of Acapulco as the group responsible for the murder of Leslie Ann Pamela Montenegro on Monday after she disclosed inside information on local drug cartels in her videos.

Olea indicated five narco-banners displayed in Acapulco in recent months threatening Montenegro pointed to the Independent Cartel of Acapulco as the group responsible for the attack.

Pamika Montenegro was shot at close range at least three times at a restaurant owned by her husband in Acapulco on Monday.

Mexican drug cartels often use such banners to accuse public figures of being associated with rival criminal organizations.

Olea further added that an Acapulco government official with ties to the group suspected in Montenegro’s death had also threatened her.

The death of “La Nana Pelucas” occurs months after cartel gunmen murdered another popular social media personality while making a promotional appearance at a bar in Jalisco.
