Authorities in Mexico have discovered exotic animals in all kinds of situations: on leashes, in yards, and even walking the streets, but in the mail? This was the case after the Office for Environmental Protection earlier this week revealed someone attempted to express-mail a tiger cub.

According to Mexican Federal Police Facebook page, the tiger cub was sedated and placed into a plastic container.

No one knew the animal was there until a sniffer dog inspecting for contraband signaled officers to the presence of the live cargo.

The cub was shipped in the western state of Jalisco to an address in the state of Queretaro.

Officials said the exotic animal suffered from dehydration but doing well, and was transferred to an animal management center.

The tiger’s documents were reportedly in order, but the animal was seized because the conditions constituted animal mistreatment.

The agency indicated that the investigation to locate the person responsible for mailing the tiger cub is still pending.
