Man sets fire to Chicago subway train during arrest in dramatic video

Authorities released dramatic footage showing the moment a man sets fire to a Chicago subway train as officers arrested him last month.

Chicago Police released video of the January 18th incident on Friday, which occurred on the Redline train, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The footage shows the man identified as 28-year-old David M. Ferguson, seated on the train before he gets into an argument with a police officer who had just walked through the train’s open doors.

Video of the incident shows Ferguson arguing with an officer before the pair starts fighting, and he sets the train on fire. (Chicago Transit Authority )

Cops responded to the train station after Ferguson allegedly splashed paint thinner on another passenger, himself and several seats.

Ferguson gets into a physical altercation with the officer before other cops join the fracas

Before officers can escort Ferguson off the train, he lights a book bag on fire on fire causing the subway car to ignite in flames.

According to court records obtained by the Chicago Sun-Times,  Ferguson now faces aggravated arson and aggravated battery charges.

A CTA employee was treated for smoke inhalation at a local hospital.

No other passengers were wounded in the incident
