FBI wiretaps captured Arizona head coach Sean Miller discussing paying $100,000 to ensure current freshman star DeAndre Ayton signed with the Wildcats with Christian Dawkins, a runner working on behalf of a sports agent.

Dawkins, who was working for ASM sports agent Andy Miller, is a major person of interest in the FBI’s probe into corruption in college basketball, which ESPN reported will charge players and coaches from some of the top sports programs in the United Staes.

During the recorded conversations, Sean Miller was asked by Dawkins if he should work with former-assistant coach Emanuel “Book” Richardson about finalizing the deal with Ayton. Miller reported told Dawkins to deal directly with him when it came to payment.

The calls are amongst 3,000 hours FBI intercepts of Dawkins’ cell phone.

The 7-foot-1 Ayton has averaged 19.6 points and 10.9 rebounds each game while helping No. 14 Arizona to a 22-6 record. The Wildcats are at the top of the Pac-12 standings with three games left. Star point guard Allonzo Trier recently was deemed ineligible by the NCAA after he tested positive for a prohibited substance. Ayton, who is a native of Bahamas, is anticipated to be a high lottery pick in the upcoming draft.

Richardson, who was terminated on January 11th, was apprehended by the FBI in September during the initial rollout of the two-year probe’s findings. He reportedly accepted $20,000 in bribes and paid players to attend Arizona. He has been charged with six felonies.

At the time, Miller denied that he was aware of Richardson’s plot.

“As the head coach at the University of Arizona, I recognize my responsibility is not only to establish a culture of success but as important, to promote and reinforce a culture of compliance,” Miller revealed in a statement back in September.

Dawkins has been charged with wire fraud and on Friday, was implicated in a Yahoo report, along with ASM Sports founder Andy Miller, for impermissible loans and payments going to players from teams at Duke, Michigan State, Kentucky, and Alabama.
