Texas authorities arrested a teen mom for the alleged murder of her infant child. The mother stabbed her newborn daughter in the neck and body before abandoning her in the garage to die.

On February 9th, deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the far eastern part of the county. When deputies came to the scene, they found a newborn child that had apparently been stabbed to death.

The deputies arrested 17-year-old Erica Gomez, who also goes by the name Erica Rubio, KFOX14 reported.

Detectives learned that Gomez gave birth to the child inside her home. She then stabbed the infant in the neck and body before she wrapped her in a robe and placed her in a storage building for 12 hours.

Officers responded to the home after they received a request for a welfare check regarding an infant.

The teen mother is now in the El Paso County jail and has been charged with Capital Murder. Her bond has been set at $800,000.
