North Carolina Police arrest suspect man recorded on Facebook Live

Police in North Carolina arrested the suspect wanted for Monday’s fatal broad daylight shooting of a man during a Facebook Live broadcast.

Officials said Douglas Colson surrendered to police before 9 a.m. Tuesday, one day after he opened fire, killing 55-year-old Prentis Robinson near the campus of Wingate University.

According to WSOC-TV, Colson, 65, had a warrant for his arrest after investigators identified him as the suspect in Robinson’s shooting death.

The victim was shot moments after leaving the Wingate Police station.

Robinson had spoken with Police Chief Donnie Gay regarding his recently stolen cellphone.

The Facebook Live video shows Robinson walking through town holding a selfie stick.

The victim appears to tell the apparent gunman “You on Live,” before shots ring out.

Police officials expressed their shock that the shooting occurred so close to police headquarters.

The suspect had remained on the run Monday and was the subject of an intense law enforcement manhunt.

The shooting prompted authorities to place the Wingate University campus on lockdown.

Law enforcement officials have yet to release a motive for Robinson’s slaying.
