State officials in the Mexican state Guanajuato apprehended a group of cartel hitmen working for one of the most violent organized crime groups in the country.

The gunmen had multiple firearms and uniforms belonging to Mexico’s Federal Police forces.

State police officers in Guanajuato arrested the cartel members after an attempted traffic stop that turned into a pursuit, Breitbart Texas reported.

The cartel hitmen were driving in a Ford Figo with stolen plates, according to Guanajuato’s Attorney General’s Office. The gunmen drove through the streets of the Joyas de Castilla area while attempting to flee but were busted shortly after.

After examining the vehicle, the officers recovered multiple caps and shirts with Mexico’s Federal Police-Special Forces logo, along with several tactical vests, some with the letters CJNG, which stands for the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.

Officials also discovered three rifles and three pistols currently being analyzed to ascertain if they have been used in any crimes.

Guanajuato is a central Mexican state that has been subjected to a dramatic increase in narco-violence after the CJNG’s attempt to take over the region.
