U.S. Border Patrol agents working in the Tucson Sector apprehended an MS-13 member from Texas after learning of a human smuggling plot.

Agents assigned to the State Route 90 Immigration Checkpoint near Whetstone, Arizona, busted an MS-13 member from El Paso after they discovered his two passengers were Mexican nationals illegally in the U.S.

The agents noticed a Ford sedan approach the inspection station at the checkpoint on March 9th. During routine questioning, the agents learned that the two male passengers, ages 28 and 48, were Mexican citizens, Breitbart Texas reported.

Further examination indicated that the two men had entered the country illegally.

The agents quickly arrested the two undocumented immigrants and the MS-13 member, who is a U.S. citizen. Immigration officials are processing the foreign nationals. The agents arrested the driver and charged him with human smuggling. Officials stated the suspect would stay in custody until his court date.

Border Patrol agents regularly encounter MS-13 members along the border.

Agents working at the Weslaco Station in the Rio Grande Valley Sector arrested an MS-13 member attempting to illegally enter into the U.S. near Pharr, Texas. The Honduran man admitted his gang affiliation during the arrest for illegal re-entry.

Last month, agents in Texas apprehended another five MS-13 members. Two of them had previously been deported.

During the first five months of FY 2018, agents arrested roughly300 MS-13 members.
