Video released shows moment self-driving Uber kills an Arizona woman

On Wednesday, footage was released showing the moment a self-driving Uber led to the death of one person who was crossing the street in Tempe, Arizona.

The self-driving car appears to be driving at a normal speed while a woman walking with a bike is suddenly seen on the dark road, according to the video published by authorities in Tempe.

The video ends just before the woman was fatally struck.

Another angle also shows the person inside of the Uber Rafael Vasquez, 44, who did not see the pedestrian until it was too late.

The victim, 49-year-old Elaine Herzberg, was killed.

The car was in self-driving mode at the time of the crash.

Tempe Police Chief Sylvia Moir has said the incident might have been “unavoidable” and it seemed that Uber may not be at fault.
