Former San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders linebacker Aldon Smith was charged Friday with violating a restraining order issued in a recent domestic violence case.

San Francisco police officials said the 28-year-old Smith surrendered to authorities and charged with three misdemeanor charges of violating a court order earlier this week ordering him to stay away from a domestic violence victim, ESPN reported.

Smith pleaded not guilty to domestic violence and other charges earlier this month.

A judge in the case issued a protective order preventing him from contacting the victim.

Smith’s attorney, Joshua Bentley, refused to comment on the arrest.

Aldon Smith was released by the Oakland Raiders days after his arrest on the domestic violence charges.

He had been on the suspended list since late 2015 for violating the NFL’s policy on substance abuse.
