Seattle Seahawks backup quarterback Trevone Boykin is facing accusations of domestic assault in a report that released Tuesday, and as a result, he was cut just hours later.

Authorities in Mansfield, Texas, have launched an investigation into Trevone Boykin after he reportedly choked his girlfriend before breaking her jaw last week. The conflict took place after the former TCU quarterback demanded to see Shabrika Bailey’s texts, she told WFAA in Dallas.

“He goes into a choke,” Bailey, who would not unlock her phone, said to the station. “I remember him choking me and trying to calm him down. I just couldn’t. I blacked out. I couldn’t calm him down at all. The pressure was hard to where I remember just collapsing. I just woke up in a puddle of blood on the kitchen floor. My whole right side was full of blood.”

The Seahawks terminated Boykin hours after the accusations came to light.

Bailey said Boykin later moved her to the bathtub, took her clothes off, and tried to clean her off. Hours later, Bailey said, the 24-year-old man took her to Dallas Regional Medical Center. When they were ordered to remain apart for questioning, Boykin reportedly left and never returned.

Bailey’s jaw was broken on both the left and right sides, and she needed to be airlifted to another hospital in Dallas after she had trouble breathing because of her injuries.

“I’ve never seen that much blood. I thought I was bleeding from somewhere else cause it was so much blood,” Bailey added.

The couple was taken into custody around this time in 2017 after she crashed her car while intoxicated, which Bailey now claims was caused by Boykin assaulting her. She said she covered for him that time but rejected his request to do the same last week.

“His first suggestion was to say that I fell,” Bailey stated, providing a message to WFAA that she said proved Boykin’s plea. “Then he suggested that I got beat up by a girl, or jumped. Then he suggested that I fell again. He’s saying since we’ve already been in a case we don’t need anything else. Of course, his football career is on the line. That’s his goal, just ‘My football career is on the line.’”

Boykin, who finished fourth in the Heisman Trophy voting in 2014, made his debut in the NFL in 2016 with the Seahawks before he spent 2017 on their practice squad.
