A bodyguard for boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. was shot early Monday morning after leaving an Atlanta nightclub in what authorities said was a targeted attack.

According to TMZ, Atlanta Police officials have identified the victim as Greg La Rosa, a longtime bodyguard of Mayweather.

Reports indicate the boxer’s three-vehicle entourage was leaving a Waffle House following a party Mayweather had hosted at Medusa nightclub when shots rang out.

La Rosa was sitting in the passenger seat of the lead car when he suffered a gunshot wound to his leg.

The driver attempted to flee the attack but the suspected gunman momentarily gave chase.

After eluding the suspect, La Rosa was rushed to a local hospital, where he was treated and later discharged around 5:30 AM.

Investigators say evidence suggests either Floyd Mayweather Jr. or his crew was directly targeted.

Police are now requesting to speak with Mayweather, who escaped unharmed.
