The FBI questioned legendary Russian MMA fighter Fedor Emelianenko who has connections with Russian President Vladimir Putin, U.S. President Donald Trump, the president’s personal attorney Michael Cohen earlier this week.

Jerry Millen, Emelianenko’s American manager, confirmed Saturday that his client was interviewed by agents at his hotel room in Chicago on Tuesday before his scheduled heavyweight fight at Bellator 198 on Saturday night, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

The 41-year-old Emelianenko didn’t let the questioning affect his performance after scoring a stunning first-round knockout of Mir at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill.

Millen refused to further elaborate on Emelianenko’s interview with the FBI agents.

“The FBI came to the hotel looking to talk to Fedor and they were very nice, they spoke with Fedor for a few minutes, spoke to me, very cool guys, and that’s all I can really say about it,” Emelianenko’s manager said.

Millen did reveal that the federal agents had attended Saturday’s fight and laughed off reports that the FBI suspected his client was a Russian spy.

Fedor Emelianenko has maintained a longstanding friendship with Vladimir Putin, who is a big fight fan and the two have been photographed together on numerous occasions.

Putin has also attended several of Emelianenko’s fights.

Additionally, the MMA fighter’s connection with President Trump dates back to 2008, when he was signed by the mixed martial arts promotional company Affliction Entertainment, which Trump had an ownership stake.

Trump’s attorney Michael Cohen was the chief operating officer for the MMA company, which has since folded.

Cohen had his New York offices and home raided by the FBI in recent weeks.

According to multiple reports, FBI agents conducted the raid seeking information on a nondisclosure agreement and payment the attorney had brokered with porn star Stormy Daniels just 11 days before the 2016 presidential election.

Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, has claimed to have engaged in an extra-marital affair with Donald Trump in 2006.

The investigation into Cohen is tied to special counsel Robert Mueller’s ongoing probe of Russian interference in the 2016 election and possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian officials.
