The continuing war for control of the drug trade in the Mexican border state of Nuevo León resulted in the recent slaying of a top cartel operator as he exited a butcher shop.

Surveillance footage obtained by Breitbart Texas showed the moment Cesar “La Borrega” Niño Garcia was walking out of a local business and two cartel hitmen opened fire with pistols. Niño Garcia was caught off-guard and fell to the ground before he could react.

The latest killing is just one in an ongoing series of murders where rival groups of the Beltran Leyva Cartel continue to battle for control of important areas in the city of Monterrey.

Reports indicate Niño Garcia was the victim of a well-orchestrated hit where two gunmen targeted the victim while a third served as the getaway driver.

During the incident, Niño Garcia’s wife and daughter went into shock after they saw their loved one’s bullet-riddled body.

The man known as “La Borrega” was a long-time operator for the Beltran Leyva Cartel and was previously apprehended with a large stockpile of weapons and drugs in 2009 which resulted in the arrest of top regional head Omar “El 34” Ibarra Lozano.

A former SWAT officer in Nuevo Leon, Ibarra Lozano shifted sides and managed to bribe most of the police in San Pedro to join his group.

After spending time behind bars, La Borrega was believed to be working with one of the cartel factions until he was killed. Niño Garcia worked with a group headed by Hector “La Burra or HH” Huerta Rios, who briefly lost control when he was apprehended by authorities–but was eventually released.

For months, La Burra faction was at war with Rodolfo “El Gato” Villarreal Hernandez, who took over control after La Burra’s arrest.
