Pennsylvania Police name Matthew Haverly  as a suspect in mother’s murder following bizarre TV interview

A man in Pennsylvania reportedly gave an interview to the press expressing shock about a body that was found near a creek — only hours later, the victim was reported to be his mother and he was taken into custody.

On Friday, Matthew Haverly was charged with homicide and abuse of a corpse in connection with the death of his 60-year-old mother, Patricia Haverly, according to news station WNEP.

Officials revealed that the woman’s body was discovered on Thursday evening Creek near Campton.

Matthew Haverly spoke to a journalist near the crime scene and alleged that he wasn’t aware of the gruesome discovery.

“I’m like, ‘What the hell is going on?’” Haverly said before authorities identified the body. “I had no clue. It’s sad, that’s someone’s daughter, mother or whatever.”

The 38-year-old, who resides across the street, said his mother would be “concerned” about the incident.

He even proposed possible motives for the killing, adding that the area was perfect for disposing of a body “because likely it wouldn’t be found.”

“I think it was some hit, and something happened,” Haverly added. “Something went bad, and this is a rural area, so they wanted to plant the body somewhere else besides wherever the hell they were from.”

An autopsy carried out Friday revealed that his mother sustained blunt force trauma and her death was determined to be a homicide, the Star-Gazette reported.

The son was apprehended later in the day and was booked into the Bradford Correctional Facility.
