Minnesota firefighters rescue 180 lb Saint Bernard stuck on the roof

Firefighters in Minnesota assisted in the rescue of a Saint Bernard that was stuck on a roof last Friday.

The pooch, whose name is Whiskey and weighs over 100 pounds, got up to the roof of a Spring Lake Park residence, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported. The happy dog didn’t seem to be bothered by his situation.

Renee Roth was taking care of the dog for her son when he made his way outside on to the roof of the home.

“I remember looking dumbfounded and saying, ‘Wow,’” Fire Department Lieutenant Anthony Scavo said. “Whiskey had pushed the screen out of the window and jumped onto the roof.”

Police had initially tried to lure Whiskey into the house with a treat before they turned the rescue mission over to the firefighters.

Firefighter David O’Keefe, Duty Chief Jeremiah Anderson, and Scavo were all present trying to get Whiskey off of the roof. The group worked to get the dog back through the window.

“Of course, once back inside, Whiskey ate the treat he was once coaxed with,” Scavo added.
