Texas authorities discover decomposed remains of an infant child while executing a drug warrant

Texas authorities say the decomposed remains of a baby was found in a home near San Antonio while executing a drug warrant on Tuesday.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar says the remains of the child discovered in a trunk inside a closet were beyond the state of decomposition.

“The remains were “desiccated or dried-up state. At this point, it’s too early to tell if it’s a homicide,” Salazar said.

Authorities will perform an autopsy to determine the baby’s identity and cause of death, News4 San Antonio reports.

Officials said the infant appeared less than a year old.

Officers executing a drug warrant of the residence also discovered at least a dozen inside the house along with various drug paraphernalia.
