Former UCLA star Billy Knight was facing child abuse charges before his suicide

Former UCLA basketball star Billy Knight who was found dead Sunday night in an apparent suicide in Phoenix after posting a heartwrenching video on YouTube was facing child sex charges.

Arizona’s Maricopa County sheriff’s officials confirmed that Knight 39, was arrested last month for sexual molestation involving a girl under the age of 15.

TMZ citing sources reported that the victim was 9 years old.

The gossip website added that at the time of his death, Knight was facing more than 50 years in prison if convicted.

Phoenix’s ABC 15 reported that the girl’s mother was Knight’s girlfriend and that the alleged abuse occurred on her mother’s bed.

Additionally, Prosecutors said Knight showed up at the girl’s home after he posted $100,000 bail back in June.

Billy Knight was ordered to wear an electronic monitoring device.

Before his suicide, Knight recorded a video, which appeared to be a suicide note saying “I am sorry, Lord.”

“I just want to say that I lived a life of sin. I lied. I cheated. And I stole,” he said. “I isolated myself from my family members. I isolated myself from my friends. If this happens, you probably have a mental illness.”
