Border Patrol agents detained an Arizona woman on drug smuggling charges after allegedly attempting to sneak heroin through a border checkpoint.

According to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection press release, the 42-year-old Nogales woman arrived at an immigration checkpoint Wednesday morning at Interstate 19 in a shuttle van.

Agents conducting a routine secondary immigration inspection of the van passengers discovered four packages of brown heroin hidden on the woman’s body.

The unidentified suspect was immediately taken into custody and turned over to Homeland Security investigators, who are overseeing the case

Reports indicate the woman was transferred to the Nogales Station, where she was processed for drug smuggling charges.
