Chicago woman charged with Facebook Live shooting

Authorities in Chicago arrested a woman in the non-fatal shooting of a 27-year-old woman as the victim live streamed a video on Facebook Live.

Law enforcement officials said 29-year-old Labritney Austin of University Park surrendered to police the day after Tuesday’s shooting on Chicago’s South Side.

Austin made her initial court appearance on Friday, where she was charged with aggravated battery by discharging a firearm.

Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi described the shooting as a “domestic-related incident between two individuals that know each other.”

According to Fox2 News, the suspect and victim were seen arguing in a car before the Facebook Live shooting occurred.

Witnesses reportedly observed Austin brandishing a firearm and firing multiple shots, hitting the victim in the arm.

It’s unclear whether Austin has hired an attorney.
