Rapper Kodak Black arrested in Florida on multiple felony charges

Rapper Kodak Black was taken into custody a few days after a guest at his residence in Florida live-streamed people with marijuana and a firearm around an infant.

According to a Broward Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested the 20-year-old, whose name is Dieuson Octave, after a search was carried out at his home in Pembroke Pines on Thursday.

Kodak Black was ordered to remain in custody without bail during a hearing on Friday because he was on probation.

The arrest report indicated that the footage was streamed on Instagram, and the search of his home led to the discovery of more drugs and firearms.

One guest at the home had a handgun near the infant while another had a joint “inches away from the infant’s face.”

Another man rolled a joint while another held a handgun “in a reckless manner,” the police report revealed.

“Your phone’s part of the search warrant — you’re not going to get it back,” one cop was heard telling Black during the bust.

In total, 95 grams of marijuana was discovered in Black’s closet, and when he gave officers the combination to his safe, they recovered cash and a loaded magazine for a Glock.

The arrest report also stated that a 9mm Beretta handgun with ammo was located in the man’s office.

According to the Sun-Sentinel, that gun had been reported stolen.

Kodak Black is facing several felonies, including child neglect, grand theft of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of marijuana.

His attorney, Brad Cohen, intends to fight the charges.

Mugshot provided by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, Fla., shows rapper Kodak Black. Octave wh is facing seven felony charges that include child neglect and drug possession.

“I’ve been working with Mr. Octave for six months, and he has been making strides. This is a setback that we will handle and raise defense issues,” Cohen said to CBS Miami.

During the hearing in Fort Lauderdale, the attorney said that the firearm was discovered inside a home shared by at least six people and that the safe is used by at least two additional people.

Cohen noted that some of those individuals do have gun permits.

Although the four men in the Instagram video were not arrested, Black’s brother, Masnik Sainmelus, 26, was taken into custody on suspicion of possessing cannabis, codeine, and Xanax.

On Friday, he was released on a $2,350 bond.

Kodak Black is also accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a South Carolina, hotel room in 2016. He has been put behind bars on several occasions in Broward County after he violated his probation.

He removed his Instagram last year after receiving fierce backlash for saying that he wasn’t interested in “dark skin” women.
