Police: Ex-con suspected in dismemberment murder of Oregon model

A felon who had just been released from prison and moved in with his mother is suspected in the killing of Sara Zghoul, the young model in Oregon, whose dismembered remains were discovered in luggage stuffed in the trunk of a BMW.

According to the Oregonian, 35-year-old Jeremiah “Jeremy” Johnston, who is on probation for a string of drug charges, reportedly tried to commit suicide by slashing his throat and wrists before authorities could arrest him on Thursday.

His attempt to take his own life was unsuccessful, and he was subsequently taken into custody.

Authorities said it might take days before he is booked into jail, and they declined to reveal additional information about Johnston’s condition or his whereabouts.

As JammedUp News reported, the remains of  38-year-old Sara Zghoul, of Aloha we recovered last week.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said a tip led police to the discovery of Zghoul’s decapitated and dismembered body stuffed inside two suitcases in the trunk of the BMW, which was parked on a residential street.

Investigators located the vehicle last Thursday after receiving information about a possible murder.

Authorities said motives for the killing or any prior connection between Johnston and Zghoul were not clear.

The Oregonian reported that public records indicate that their families’ houses are a half-mile away from each other.
