Bodies of twin babies found in suitcase dumped in ditch: Arkansas Police

Authorities in Arkansas have launched an investigation after the bodies of newborn twins reportedly were found in a suitcase by a hunter.

The babies were discovered in a suitcase abandoned in a ditch just before 2 p.m. on Friday, the Cross County Sheriff’s Office revealed in a press release. Law enforcement officials said the babies are believed to be twins.

The Arkansas State Crime Lab scheduled autopsies for the infants for Tuesday.

“It’s always something being dumped in this ditch,” Clyde Collins told Fox16.. “To think something like that happened was kind of strange.”

“I’ve heard of a lot of things, but I’ve never heard of killing babies and putting them in a suitcase,” Collins continued.

Santia Wallace, who lives in the area, said she was
shaken up” and “in tears” when she heard about what happened.

“Here I am, I want to have kids and for you to kill them? Who does that?” Wallace said to WREG. “You could have taken him to the fire station, something like that. You don’t have to kill kids.”

Detective Sergeant Jeffrey Nichols told WREG that investigators have several persons of interest at this time.

The sheriff’s office asks that anyone with information contact 870-238-5700.
