North Carolina Police say a man was gunned down while recording a Facebook Live video near Wingate University’s campus on Monday.

The footage posted on the page for Atlanta-based musician Prentis Robinson shows the victim carrying a selfie stick when an unidentified armed male assailant approached and opened fire four times.

Authorities have yet to release the victim’s name, The Charlotte Observer reported.

Union County Sheriff Public Information Officer Tony Underwood said authorities placed Wingate University on lockdown following the gunfire.

The lockdown was the result of the “active homicide scene” and students were notified to lock all doors and windows, close all blinds and turn off the lights,” Underwood stated.

Officials also confirmed that no students were harmed.

The unknown suspect remained at large following the shooting.

“We’re pursuing leads and trying to figure out what this is all about,” Underwood said.

Robinson’s friends and followers expressed their shock at the shooting incident.

“I’m not only pissed but I’m hurt, that was a cowardly move to kill this man on his birthday!”

Facebook was not immediately available for comment following Monday’s shooting.

The incident occurs less than a year after Steve Stephens posted a Facebook Live video showing him fatally shooting 74-year-old Robert Godwin Sr. in Cleveland.
