Arizona authorities busted two Mexican nationals smuggling over $150,000 worth of heroin during a traffic stop on Monday.

According to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested the two suspects at a traffic enforcement checkpoint on Interstate 10.

Officials said officers stopped a vehicle for a violation when they encountered 57-year-old Jacinto Armentilla Canevet behind the wheel and 53-year-old Silvia Ramos Lopez in the passenger seat.

During questioning, deputies noticed Lopez appeared to conceal something beneath her shirt.

A closer inspection uncovered eight bundles of heroin weighing a total of 4 pounds taped to the woman’s chest and torso.

Canevet and Lopez were taken into custody and booked on suspicion of possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell and transportation of narcotics with intent to sell.

Officials haven’t indicated whether either suspect has hired an attorney.
