Sheriff’s investigators in Upstate New York confiscated 20 pounds of marijuana, 5 pounds of cocaine and 20 firearms after a six-month probe investigating drug dealing that police referred to as the largest in Saratoga County history.

Investigators also seized $264,000 in money along with the drugs, worth approximately $300,000, Sheriff Michael Zurlo announced on Monday.

“The arrests and seizures made a major dent in the drug trafficking that occurs in Saratoga County,” the sheriff added.

He said officers in the narcotics unit learned of the drug enterprise in September, and undercover officers infiltrated it and carried out a series of controlled cocaine buys. On March 4th, six people were taken into custody as deputies executed seven search warrants.

The probe focused on 64-year-old Dennis E. Jones. Investigators learned that he had managed a cocaine-distribution ring for years, The Times-Union reported.

He was charged with possession of marijuana and a controlled substance, both of which are felonies, and four counts of misdemeanor possession of weapons.

A search of his residence and two other properties led to the seizure of firearms, 3 pounds of cocaine, and the 20 pounds of marijuana.

Kent D. Daniels, 54, has been charged with felony distribution of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Cleveland Francis, 44, was taken into custody after a traffic stop led to the seizure of cocaine. He has been charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Jones, Francis, and Daniels have been booked into the Saratoga County jail without bail.

“As the case grew, it led us outside Saratoga County,” Zurlo stated.

Authorities in Albany arrested Ahbdul Maldonado, 46, after raiding his residence. He was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and a controlled substance with the intent to distribute.

A woman was also taken into custody after police discovered she was a felon in possession of a weapon. Debra Comorski, 53, was charged with misdemeanor weapons possession.

Detectives added that they discovered two long firearms at Comorski’s home at a property that Jones owns in Schuylerville.

Zurlo said additional arrests may be forthcoming.
