A wounded Border Patrol official insisted on treating the undocumented immigrant who attacked him before he accepted treatment for his own bleeding wound from his head.

The Honduran immigrant attacked the agent and bashed his head against a rock before ultimately being restrained by back up forces.

The 25-year-old suspect assaulted a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agent working in the Tucson Sector in an attempt to evade arrest after he illegally crossed the border into Arizona.

During the altercation, the Honduran man allegedly smashed the Border Patrol agent’s head against a rock causing the agent to bleed extensively, according to Breitbart Texas.

A group of agents approached a number of migrants who crossed the border illegally east of Sasabe, Arizona. As the migrants tried to flee, agents pursued after them, with one chasing the Honduran man. He began assaulting the agent in an effort to escape.

Some of the agents responded after hearing the scuffle and restrained the illegal alien. The Honduran received minor injuries as he resisted arrest.

Despite bleeding profusely from his wounds, the agent, a former paramedic, insisted on treating and examining his attacker before accepting treatment for his head.

A CBP Air and Marine Operations helicopter arrived at the scene and transferred the wounded agent to a team of emergency medical personnel who were waiting nearby. After receiving treatment for his head wound, the helicopter flew the agent to a local hospital.

As a precaution, agents moved the suspect from Honduras to an area hospital for evaluation before he was taken to the station for processing. He is facing charges related to immigration violations and assaulting a federal officer.

A second Honduran immigrant was also taken into custody and has been charged with immigration violations.
