A Nevada man who molested a child who was under 14-years-old over a period of several years has been sentenced to life behind bars with the possibility of parole.

On Thursday, the Nevada Appeal revealed that 48-year-old Craig Martin entered a guilty plea to two counts of indecency with a child under 14.

His sentences will be served consecutively, which means Martin won’t meet parole eligibility for at least two decades.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation against Martin in 2015 over accusations that he had been molesting a child in Silver Springs.

He was later apprehended in Arizona and extradited to Nevada.

District Attorney Stephen Rye said the sentence “sends a strong message that child abuse will not be tolerated in Lyon County.”
