Man busted for allegedly sneaking AR-15 into New York casino

A man was taken into custody for possession of an AR-15 rifle inside a casino in Long Island, New York.

Raymond Hansen, 25, reportedly concealed the illegal semiautomatic firearm under his jacket when he went into Jake’s 58 Casino and Hotel in Suffolk County.

On Thursday, a security manager was investigating a “dog barking” and went into the hotel room where he discovered the AR-15 and two ammunition magazines on the floor, Suffolk County District Attorney Tim Sini indicated at a press conference.

“It appears [Hansen] brought the rifle into the hotel room under his jacket,” Sini stated.

“At some point, he went to the room and kept the rifle in the room along with other contraband, including marijuana.”

Hansen was staying at the casino with three others. Authorities said they do not believe he intended on using the weapon.

Other guests staying at the hotel were unnerved.

“It’s scary,” Barbara Sexton, of Ronkonkoma, said to WCBS/Channel 2. “I don’t know how often I’ll come here, to be honest with you.”

Hansen has been charged with criminal possession of a firearm and posted $250,000 bond.

The incident occurs six months after Stephen Paddock shot his semiautomatic weapon on a music festival from his hotel room at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Paddock murdered 58 people before he turned the gun on himself.
