A married Florida Bible teacher was taken into custody and was also terminated from her position after she purportedly had sex with a student.

On Thursday, 35-year-old Suzanne Owen was charged with custodial sexual battery after accusations surfaced that she had sex with a student at the Evangelical Christian School in Fort Myers, Florida.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office indicated that the teacher, who taught Bible and Spanish classes, texted the minor for several weeks before they had sex, the Miami Herald reported.

She was taken into custody on Wednesday mere days after the couple reportedly met up off campus to have sex. It’s not clear how authorities learned of the alleged misconduct.

Owens was released she was arraigned on $50,000 bail.

School administrated fired the 35-year-old and told parents they weren’t “aware of the report of the incident” until she was taken into custody.

“We are saddened and express our sincere sympathy to any and all victims of sexual assault,” school officials announced in a statement.

Owen’s husband works as a soccer coach at the school and her three children are students.
