Mexican military helicopter opens fire at cartel hitmen in border city of Reynosa

The Mexican border city of Reynosa continues to be the center of intense gun battles where groups of cartel hitmen continue to scatter gunfire at each other, police officers, and military forces.

The fighting continues without any consideration for innocent bystanders. The violence is attributed to fighting between two rival factions of the Gulf Cartel for territorial control of the region.

Gulf Cartel gunmen in Matamoros and Reynosa engaged in fierce firefights in the surrounding rural areas all the way to the city of Rio Bravo.

In addition to the fighting between the two rival factions, cartel member also conducted a series of attacks against military and police forces, Breitbart Texas reported.

Footage recorded by residents and shared on social media showed the moment that a military helicopter flies in the distance while opening fire at the cartel hitmen.

Another recording shot by a group of baseball players near one of the stadiums in the city recorded the tense moments when bystanders were forced to run for cover as the sound of shooting continued.

In addition to numerous shooters who died in the firefight, six bystanders were hit by stray gunfire and killed in the Petrolera area.

The latest fighting occurs after almost a year of violence that resulted in almost 450 deaths including cartel gunmen, members of the military, police, and innocent bystanders.
