72-year-old Oregon woman busted for drug trafficking in Tennessee

A 72-year-old Oregon woman has been charged with her role in a drug trafficking ring in Memphis, Tennessee.

Most would not think of Adina Alexis as a drug dealer, but investigators indicated authorities had received a tip that she was traveling to Memphis for a marijuana transaction.

WREG reported that her last known address in Chicago.

Authorities said when they caught up with Adina, they discovered over 4,500 grams of marijuana in her vehicle–and over 2,600 grams of marijuana, 126 THC cartridges, along with edibles inside of a storage unit where she was storing the marijuana.

Adina was arrested and booked into the Shelby County Jail.

Shelby County Sheriff’s Office revealed that they’ve been tracking Alexis and they think she is a member of a drug trafficking organization when she was booked into jail on Friday.

Travis Freeman that investigators should give her a break because of her old age.

“It’s all on the brink of being legal anyway I don’t see the point in ruining the lady’s record,” Freeman stated.

A woman identified Anna Butler also agreed, stating: what is a 72-year-old little lady going to do to anyone?”

Currently, Alexis faces 12 counts of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute.
