Suspect killed during a shootout with ICE agents

A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent engaged in a shootout with a suspect in San Antonio on Tuesday.

The suspect reportedly opened fire on the immigration officers who were trying to execute a warrant. One officer was wounded during the incident and the suspect was killed.

ICE officials indicated that and Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officer was involved in a shooting on Tuesday, Fox29 San Antonio reported.

“ICE can confirm the subject is deceased and that a firearm was recovered,” ICE officials revealed in a written statement.

FBI Special Agent-in-Charge Christopher Combs told the press in San Antonio that ERO officers tried to serve a warrant on a suspect at approximately 7 a.m. Tuesday. The suspect fled–leading the officers on a pursuit. After the chase, the suspect shot once at one of the ERO officers. One of the ERO officers returned fire, hitting and killing the suspect.

One of the ERO officers suffered minor injuries. It has not been revealed if the suspect shot the officer or if he suffered from some other form of injury.

Investigators seized the suspect’s firearm, and FBI agents have launched a probe into the assault on a federal officer case.

No other information about the suspect has been released.
