Security footage from a courthouse in Utah shows a defendant in handcuffs racing out of a courtroom, flipping over a second-floor railing, and dropping to the ground below.

In the short video that was released to press outlets on Thursday, Christopher Clay Rudd seems to be dazed or unconscious after he fell on Monday.

His face was also shown to be bloody as two bailiffs make sure he is alright.

State courts spokesperson Geoffrey Fattah says that 35-year-old suffered a broken leg and pelvis, and even fractured his skull, after Monday’s incident.

Investigators revealed that he had been arrested on drug-related charges and made an appearance at the Spanish Fork court for neglecting to complete a court-ordered treatment program.

Police spokesman Matt Johnson indicated that it’s not clear whether Rudd was intentionally trying to hurt himself. He may face additional charges for attempting to escape.
