A Texas sheriff’s deputy confiscated roughly $3 million in meth after a routine traffic stop last week in Fayette County between San Antonio and Houston.

The deputy and his K-9 partner, have both garnered national attention after making numerous multi-million dollar drug busts, which have resulted in the massive seizures of illegal narcotics and large quantities of cash stemming from drug trafficking.

Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Randy Thumann and his K-9 “Lobos” carried out a traffic stop on Interstate 10 near Schulenburg. During the stop, Sergeant Thumann used his interdiction skills while interviewing the driver and his wife, ABC13 reported.

Thumann grew wary that the driver could be smuggling narcotics from Mexico to Houston after finding discrepancies in his travel itinerary, according to a statement given to Breitbart Texas by Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant. David Beyer.

The sergeant received permission to inspect the vehicle. During the search, Lobos performed a walk-around search and signaled to the scent of drugs in the vehicle.

Thumann conducted a visual inspection of the Nissan Murano and noticed anomalies in the fuel tank. After he dropped the fuel tank, Thumann discovered 16 bundles of drugs.

The drugs tested positive for meth and weighed 27 kilos. Fayette County officials reported the value of the meth is worth an estimated $2.7 million.

Thumann took Mendez Ramos into custody and seized the vehicle and drugs. The deputy brought the Mexican national to the county jail for processing.

Breitbart Texas reported that the Mexican national is legally in the U.S. on a visa. The man could face deportation if he is found guilty.

In February, Sgt. Thumann and Lobos seized $6 million worth of meth in the fuel tank of a Chevy Tahoe near Flatonia, Texas, Breitbart Texas reported. He also confiscated $21,000 in cash during a traffic stop in March.
