Border Patrol agents concluded a three-week intelligence operation targeting human smuggling resulting in the arrests of 170 people outside of Yuma, Arizona.

According to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection press release, agents from the Yuma and El Centro Sectors apprehended 145 foreign nationals being smuggled near the Imperial Sand Dunes west of Yuma since April.

The group included four Chinese nationals and three Indian nationals.

Border Patrol Agents also detained 25 others, some of whom are U.S. citizens, for coordinating attempts to smuggle people across the border and seized 15 vehicles.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Air and Marine Office also assisted with the operation.

“The joint efforts between Yuma and El Centro Sectors and all personnel involved in this operation have made our country and communities safer for everyone,” Yuma Sector Chief Patrol Agent Anthony J. Porvaznik said in a statement.” We are committed to enforcing the rule of law and dismantling the criminal organizations that victimize people throughout the world.”
