Harvey Weinstein arraigned on rape, criminal sex acts charges

Disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein was arraigned Friday in a New York City court on rape, criminal sex act and other sex charges stemming from encounters with two women.

The former Weinstein Company founder gazed as he appeared in a Manhattan courtroom. He agreed to post $1 million cash bail, wear an electronic monitor and not travel beyond New York and Connecticut.

Harvey Weinstein didn’t enter a plea, which is standard procedure at this stage of a criminal case in New York.

The one-time powerhouse producer has vehemently denied the slew of allegations of nonconsensual sex made by an array of women.

Weinstein surrendered early Friday to face the first criminal case brought after scores of women made sexual harassment and assault allegations against him.

The allegations ultimately destroyed his renowned career and ignited a national firestorm over sex offenses known as the #MeToo movement.
