A gunman attempted to transform Chicago rapper Chief Keef into the next Tupac Shakur on Saturday outside of a Midtown hotel in New York City. But, the man reportedly missed the mark.

Instead of hitting the 22-year-old rapper, whose name is Keith Farrelle Cozart, the gunman’s straying 5 a.m. shot hit the side of the W Hotel on Broadway near West 47th Street, according to the New York Post.

As of Saturday, police were still looking for two men reportedly tied to the shooting– which grew to be a source of ridicule from members of Keef’s rap crew, Glo Gang.

“Why they shooting up in the air at the W when we on the ground?” Tadoe said, whose real name is Darron Rose.

“I hope these n—-s got paid enough to do that,” Tadoe added, who referred to the attackers “f—-g clowns.’

A police source indicated that the incident might have been the result of a dispute Chief Keef is having with a rival rapper from Brooklyn.

Chief Keef, released his most recent album The GloFiles (Pt. 2) in May and has 4.7 million Instagram followers.
