Off-duty FBI agent allegedly shot a man accidentally after gun falls on the dance floor in Denver bar

An off-duty FBI agent inadvertently shot a man in his leg on Saturday after the official’s firearm fell from his holster on the dance floor of Mile High Spirits in Denver.

“The victim was transported to the hospital with a good prognosis,” the press release stated.

The identity of the agent hasn’t been revealed because he hasn’t been charged, according to Marika Putnam, a spokeswoman for the Denver police.

The man who was shot was still in the hospital as of Saturday.

“He appears to have non-life threatening injuries,” Putnam added.

Footage of the incident acquired by Denver7 shows a man purported to be the FBI agent dancing while encircled by onlookers and then doing a backflip. While doing the flip, the gun is seen flying out of the man’s holster.

The man in the recording jumps to pick up the gun and seems to accidentally fire the weapon in the process.

He put the firearm away in the back of his pants and held up his hands as witnesses appear shocked and afraid.

“When the agent retrieved his handgun, an unintended discharge occurred,” the release said.

The agent was brought to Denver police headquarters and was released to an FBI supervisor. The Denver police homicide unit is investigating the incident. The Denver district attorney’s office will decide on charges.
