Powerful drug cartels in portions of Mexico often exceed government to the point where hitmen solicit “taxes” and provide corporal justice.

Recent footage recorded by purported gunmen with Jalisco New Generation in the municipality of Magdalena shows a crew of hooded men beating a man who they caught robbing women’s lingerie from a store. The video has since been posted on social media to illustrate the violence that is taking place in Mexico.

The gunmen forced the thief wear the lingerie, pulled his pants down, and repeatedly paddled him, Breitbart Texas reported.

The alleged robber is forced to say that he was being punished for stealing the underwear and was told that next time, he would not be so lucky.

Magdalena proceeds to be one of the strongholds for CJNG, one of the most brutal cartels in Mexico. Soon after the first recording was uploaded, photos of other thieves being paddled in the area started to be spread on social media.

The move seems to be an attempt by the cartel to gain public favor by “delivering justice” in a place where most crimes remain unpunished. The Gulf Cartel has also executed the practice in Matamoros, Tamaulipas. In the city of Nuevo Laredo, a faction of Los Zetas called Cartel Del Noreste brings toys to children during the Christmas season and other celebrations.
