US Coast Guard discovers bale of cocaine floating in the Gulf of Mexico

The United States Coast Guard recovered a floating bale of cocaine off the coast of Florida.

According to The Daily Mail citing a U.S. Coast Guard news release, the packages containing 75 pounds of cocaine was discovered on Sunday in the Gulf of Mexico.

Officials said a “good Samaritan” Saturday evening alerted authorities of the bale floating south of Pensacola.

Multiple law enforcement agencies conducted a search of the area that night.

The Coast Guard recovered the cocaine with the assistance of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Homeland Security Investigations Interagency Regional Coordinating Mechanism, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, and Orange Beach Police.

Officials said authorities are working to determine who the cocaine belongs too.
