The American tourist shot and killed in Mexico City identified as 27-year-old San Francisco resident Tatiana Mirutenko

Gunmen on a motorcycle fatally shot a U.S. citizen as she ate at a well-known restaurant in an upscale neighborhood in Mexico City.

The two armed assailants on a motorcycle rode up in front of the establishment and opened fire, according to ABC13.

Authorities said the intended victim was a man who was wounded but managed to survive the assault.

However, stray bullets also hit a 27-year-old woman who was leaving the eatery with her husband and another couple.

The U.S. Bureau of Consular Affairs confirmed the victim as Tatiana Mirutenko.

The couples stopped to eat tacos after going to a nearby bar.

The slaying occurred on early Saturday morning at a taco restaurant called El Califa in the wealthy Miguel Hidalgo area of Mexico City.

The two gunmen were reportedly targeting a 46-year-old man who worked as the doorman at a bar in the Polanco area.

According to E-Consulta, the two suspects fired 11 shots.

The armed assailants reportedly fled toward Mexico State.

Mexican officials contacted the U.S. Embassy in connection to the case.

Authorities expect to return Mirutenko’s body to the U.S. after forensic investigations have been completed.
