A serial immigration violator was charged with attempted murder after attacking his wife with a chainsaw at their California residence was deported on 11 occasions before he was taken into custody on Thursday for his role in the horrific attack.

Alejandro Alvarez, 32, is an undocumented immigrant who has been deported almost a dozen times since 2005, Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesperson Lori Haley said in an interview with the KABC.

Immigration officials have secured a detainer against the man.

Alvarez reportedly attacked his wife in the couple’s home in Whittier on Wednesday while their three children were present.

“When officers arrived they found a female suffering from traumatic injuries, believed to have been inflicted by a chainsaw,” authorities said in a Facebook post detailing the crime.

Alvarez’s wife was rushed to the hospital and is expected to survive.

It is anticipated that the 32-year-old suspect will be charged with attempted murder, child endangerment, hit and run, and grand theft auto.

Records indicate that Alvarez had a criminal history before his recent arrest. In 2013, he was charged with illegal possession of a controlled substance and being under the influence of a controlled substance. He pleaded no contest.
