A mother in Texas is facing 40 years in prison for the attempted child prostitution of her 2-year-old daughter.

Montgomery County District Attorney Brett Ligon, said Sarah Peters, 24, had arranged to take her 2-year-old daughter in February, 40 miles north of Houston to Conroe by bus to meet a man named “John,” who was offering $1,200 for “sexual acts with the child.”

However, the man at the Greyhound bus station was actually Jerry Serratt, a detective with a police task force targeting Internet offenses involving minors, The Star-Telegram reported.

Authorities grew suspicious of Peters when she asked Serratt if he knew of “any guys that would pay to have fun” with the child. The mother also gave him nude pictures of the 2-year-old to tempt any interested individuals.

The task force worked with special agents from the Department of Homeland Security to apprehend Peters and take custody of the toddler on February 22nd.

After pleading guilty this week, Peters will spend 40 years behind bars, based on concurrent sentences for the sexual performance of a child, promoting child prostitution, and attempted human trafficking.

The woman will be eligible for parole in 2038.
