Authorities in NYC seize $7.5M worth of heroin, fentanyl during a takedown of massive Bronx drug trafficking ring

Federal and local authorities in New York say they seized up to $7.5 million worth of heroin and fentanyl from a purported drug trafficking ring in the Bronx.

Late Wednesday, authorities with the NY Drug Enforcement Task Force and the Special Narcotics Prosecutor’s Investigators Unit along with U.S. Drug Enforcement agents raided an apartment on Morrison Avenue in the Soundview area of the Bronx as part of an ongoing probe into a drug trafficking ring.

During the investigation, agents discovered roughly 11 kilos of a substance consistent with heroin inside of a bag in the closet of the first bedroom, another 10 kilos concealed in the wall behind a medicine cabinet and nearly 230 grams of heroin inside of a plastic bag in a dresser.

Authorities arrested five people on charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminally using drug paraphernalia.

According to Local News 12, ederal agents and detectives also seized a variety of equipment used to process drugs for street-level sale.

Inside of a second bedroom were three scales, four strainers, 12 coffee grinders, 16 tape dispensers and almost 300 rolls of tape.

Also in that room were three large cases of envelopes filled with hundreds of individual envelopes and over 100 ink stamps with inkpads, with labels that included, “Dexter,” “Death,” “100%,” “UPS,” “Heartless” and “Super High.”

Five individuals were taken into custody on charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance and the criminal use of drug paraphernalia.
