The Mexican government has extradited a cartel gang member wanted in the eight-year-old murder of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry to the United States.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials made the announcement on Tuesday.

Heraclio Osorio-Arellanes was arraigned in U.S. District Court in Tucson on Wednesday.

Authorities in Mexico arrested Osorio-Arellanes in April 2017 and he has remained in custody awaiting extradition.

US federal prosecutors have charged Osorio-Arellanes in the slaying of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, who was killed during a confrontation with a cartel ‘rip-off’ crew near Nogales, Arizona on Dec. 14, 2010.

So far five of the six other defendants charged have either pled guilty or have been convicted following a jury trial.

Another defendant is still awaiting trial.
