An Alabama police chief was placed on leave after marijuana and drug paraphernalia was discovered in his patrol car and home.

According to AL.com, authorities conducted a search of the house and patrol car of Lipscomb Police Chief Brian “Scott” Martin and uncovered the weed along with two bongs.

Court records made public Wednesday revealed the discovery led to the arrest of the 37-year-old on July 27 on misdemeanor charges of second-degree marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officials said Martin ultimately admitted to having the marijuana in his home but denied having any knowledge of the drug discovered in his car.

The police chief was booked in his home along with Crystal Lynn Tindle, who faces the same charges.

Lipscomb Mayor Brenda Renz says Martin would remain on leave pending an investigation.
