HIV-positive worker Levian Pacheco charged with sexually abusing 8 teen boys at an immigrant youth facility

Federal officials revealed that a former youth care worker at a facility for immigrants in Phoenix sexually abused eight teen boys, one of several cases brought to light recently as thousands of immigrant minors remain detained around the U.S.

Court records indicate that Levian Pacheco is facing several charges resulting from incidents that reportedly occurred between August 2016 and July 2017 at a Southwest Key facility in Mesa.

Investigators claim that Pacheco carried out sex acts on two boys and touched six others, all between 15 and 17-years-old at the time, CBS News reported.

Court documents also state that Pacheco is HIV-positive and that some of the teens chose to be tested for the virus. Pacheco has pleaded not guilty and denied the accusations against him.

The revelations Thursday took place one day after authorities said another employee at a different Southwest Key facility, Fernando Magaz Negrete, is accused of molesting a 14-year-old immigrant female.
